President of Parliament to pay official visit to Sweden

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris departs on Monday for a three – day official visit to Sweden, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, Urban Ahlin.

During his visit, Syllouris will be received by his counterpart for a tete a tete meeting followed by a meeting with the participation of the Chairmen and members of the Swedish House Committees on Foreign Affairs, EU Affairs and Culture.

Syllouris will also meet with Sweden’s Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom and attend an official dinner hosted by his Swedish counterpart.

He will also meet with Oscar Stenstrom, State Secretary to the Minister of EU Affairs and Trade and lay a wreath at the memorial ceremony at the National Veterans’ Monument accompanied by the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, General Micael Byden in the presence of Swedish veterans of the UNFICYP Force in Cyprus.

Syllouris and his entourage will meet with the Lord Mayor of Stockholm Eva Louise Erlandsson Slorach and attend a luncheon hosted by the First Deputy Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Tobias Billstrom.

In addition, the House President will address an event at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Swedish Archaeological Mission in Cyprus.

His visit will also include a meeting with the President of the Swedish-Cyprus Association, Savvas Varnava and members of the board, a meeting with Metropolitan of Sweden and All Scandinavia Cleopas and a working lunch hosted by President Cecilia Magnusson and members of the Sweden-Cyprus Parliamentary Friendship Group.
