President expresses gratitude for France’s steadfast support to efforts for a Cyprus settlement

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has expressed gratitude on behalf of himself and the people of Cyprus to the Republic of France, thanking for its steadfast and consistent support to the principles for a Cyprus settlement and particularly for its support to the efforts for a solution on the basis of the UN relevant resolutions and the European principles and values.

Anastasiades who was speaking during a meeting he had on Friday with the Chairman of the French Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Christian Cambon, also noted that the aim is “to achieve a settlement of the Cypurus problem that will allow conditions of peaceful coexistence of the two communities, as well as peace and stability in the region to prevail” and at the same time will lead to the normalization of the relations between Cyprus and Turkey.

On his part, Cambon conveyed a message of friendship and cooperation from the President of the French Senate Gerard Larcher.

Cambon also held a meeting with Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on twitter that this was “an excellent opportunity inter alia to touch base on a number of issues they had discussed during their last meeting in Paris, in May.”
