President discusses Cyprus, bilateral relations and climate change with former French PM Fabius

Former Prime Minister of France Laurent Fabius met Friday with President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, in Nicosia, to discuss the Cyprus problem, bilateral relations and climate change.

Fabius, who is the President of the Constitutional Council in France, visits Cyprus to take part in a conference on climate change. According to Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou, the President briefed him on the Cyprus problem and on Cypriot-French cooperation, particularly in the field of energy, while the two men also discussed climate change.

Fabius underlined that it is obvious in Cyprus that even the public is aware of the threat from climate change Prodromou went on to say.

The Government Spokesman said that President Anastasiades noted during the discussion Cyprus’ efforts, as a small country, to implement measures that will help the world address this threat and said that questioning the important Paris climate agreement was a negative development.
