President denies reports over a framework agreement, deliberations continue

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said that deliberations continue, but denied press reports over a framework agreement on the Cyprus problem.

The two Cypriot sides, along with representatives of the guarantor powers (Greece, Turkey the United Kingdom) and in the presence of the EU Foreign Policy chief Federica Mogherini deliberated with the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in the context of the ongoing Conference of Cyprus under the auspices of the UN.

Deliberations continue but I would like to say that we need to be calm and patient, he said adding I know the boundaries within which I can negotiate.

Therefore, he said, until now I cannot say there is what has been deliberately reported.

UN-facilitated peace talks began in Crans-Montana on June 28 to help find a negotiated settlement that would reunify Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
