The business forums in Mumbai and New Delhi shed light on the unique investment opportunities that Cyprus has to offer, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades said on Thursday evening, expressing hope that “the interaction of our business communities here in India will create new windows of opportunity that will deepen Cyprus-India economic ties.”
Addressing a dinner hosted in his honour by the Business Associations of Cyprus and India, Anastasiades, who is paying an official visit to India reiterated that the government of the Republic of Cyprus “is truly committed to remaining a reliable partner in facilitating business and investment initiatives involving India, and will stand by all of you, the business community in your efforts to deepen our economic ties.”
Anastasiades said that “Cyprus and India share a deep historical bond, a long-standing friendship that is anchored on common values such as respect for democracy, rule of law, and a deep understanding and respect of each other’s history.”
He made particular reference to India’s principled stance on the Cyprus problem, stressing that India has stood unequivocally by Cyprus in our efforts to reunify our country and its people and preserve the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Cyprus. And for that we are truly grateful.
He said he was pleased that agreements in the field of merchant shipping, aviation, agriculture, culture and education will be signed on Friday, paving the path for enhancing cooperation in these fields.
