President aims at a government of broad social acceptance, Government Spokesman says

Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades aims to form a government of a broad social acceptance, having received a new mandate for a second five-year term in office, Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides told today CNA.

The President has a strong conviction that the problems and the challenges ahead can be efficiently addressed through collective action, as problems have no ideological colour, Christodoulides said, a day after Anastasiades won the elections with 55.99% of the vote.

The President intends to form a government of a wider social acceptance, he added, recalling that Anastasiades will take into account the strong mandate given by the Cypriot people as well as the fact that no political alliances were formed between the first and the run-off ballot.

The first Cabinet meeting after the presidential elections is scheduled for Thursday. The President, according to reliable sources, is expected to have contacts and discussions concerning the new Cabinet.
