Peace does not prevail through arbitrariness and by violating international law, Cyprus President tells Turkey

Cyprus President, Nicos Anastasiades, sent on Friday the message to Turkey that peace does not prevail through arbitrariness and violation of the international law, underlining that Turkey needs to realise that by acting in the way it does, it does not achieve a positive agenda as regards its interests in Europe.

In statements  to the media, Anastasiades noted that the Turkish side has submitted before the UN Secretary General unacceptable an proposal for a two-state solution in Cyprus, while it has been acting in an illegal way in Cyprus’ EEZ and as regards the city of Famagusta that it wants to open for settlement.

He wondered what he will negotiate if he accepts the positive vote, co-exploitation of the natural gas and the natural gas pipeline to pass through Turkey.
