Patience needed with unacceptable statements of t/c side, President Anastasiades says

_: Patience is needed when hearing the unacceptable statements made by the Turkish Cypriot side, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has said.

The President was invited to comment on statements made by the so called foreign minister of the illegal regime in the occupied areas of the Republic Kudret Ozersay who said that there should be a separation of Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone.

President Anastasiades said that he wishes to handle the situation in a calm manner, with patience and tolerence, adding that at the same time actions are taking place through diplomacy.

President Anastasiades made the statements on his return from the House of Representatives where he took the oath of office before the Parliaments Plenary.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. A Conference on Cyprus in the context of UN led talks for the reunification of Cyprus under a federal roof, which took place in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana last summer ended without an agreement.

SAIPEM 12000 drillship, commissioned by Italian energy company ENI, to start drilling operations in block 3 of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) was halted by five Turkish warships last Friday morning while making a new effort to reach Soupia target, which it was unable to fulfil due to Turkish threats.

Two weeks ago Saipem had to halt its transfer journey to block 3 of Cyprus EEZ, when it was stopped by Turkish military ships with a notice not to continue because there would be military activities in the destination area.
