Mr Syllouris briefed Senator Menendez on the current phase of the talks, noting the significance attributed by the Greek Cypriot side to the issue of Security. In this framework, the House President underlined that the solution to be reached must ensure the immediate withdrawal of occupation troops and it must put an end to the anachronistic institution of guarantees.

Lastly, the House President and the US Senator exchanged views on the impending presidential elections in the US, as well as on other international issues of mutual interest.
