Omicron variant cases in Cyprus reach 5, says Ministry of Health

Two more cases of the Omicron mutation have been detected in Cyprus, with the total cases being five, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday.

In a statement the Ministry has said that after the sequence of samples of positive cases by the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, additional cases with the Omicron mutation were identified, after thorough and rigorous testing.

The two new cases are connected with the three already identified and announced on 10 December, have a travel history and come from Limassol district.
