Official visit of the President of the European Parliament to Cyprus

The President of the European Parliament, Mrs Roberta Metsola, will be in Cyprus on Friday 9 September for an official visit.

At 09.30 President Metsola will arrive at the Presidential Palace for the official ceremonial welcome followed by a meeting with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nicos Anastasiades. After the discussions, the European Parliament President and the President of the Republic of Cyprus will have a joint press point followed by Q&A.

At 11.00 President Metsola will arrive at the House of Representatives where she will have a meeting with the President of the House of Representatives, Mrs Annita Demetriou, followed by a joint press point with questions.

At 11.45 the President of the European Parliament will address the Plenary of the House of Representatives at a special session in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus.

At 12.20 President Metsola will have a meeting with the Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP), Mr Colin Stewart, at the Ledra Palace.

At 13.15 there will be a working lunch hosted by the President of the House of Representatives.

At 16.00 the President of the European Parliament will have a meeting with the Mayor and the Members of the Municipal Council of Famagusta in Deryneia.

At 18.00 President Metsola and President Demetriou will debate with university students and youth organisations from both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities at the University of Cyprus Learning Resource Centre “Stelios Ioannou”.
