Nicosia looks forward to working with Rome, Cyprus President says

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades has sent a congratulatory message to Italy’s new Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, and expressed his wish to work with him for the smooth realization of the potential of bilateral relations, arising from the discovery of hydrocarbons in Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone and the active presence of ENI.

I would like to congratulate you on the assumption of your high duties as President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic and express our keenness to nurture the existing excellent relations between our two countries, President Anastasiades says in his message.

He adds that our bilateral relations acquired a new mutually beneficial impetus through the recent, promising hydrocarbon discoveries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus, with the extensive and active presence of ENI and I look forward to working with you for the smooth realization of their potential.

I also look forward to working with you on our European Union agenda and on the advancement of the perspectives of the southern EU member states in addressing the many challenges that the Union is currently facing, he says.
