New HIV seropositive cases record increase

In the first ten months of the year, new HIV / AIDS seropositive cases in Cyprus have recorded an increase, compared to the corresponding period last year, AIDS Support Movements Secretary Christos Krasides, has told CNA.

Speaking to CNA on the occasion of the European Weed for HIV Test and the World AIDS day on the 1st of December, Krasides said he estimates that more than 80 new cases will be recorded by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, according to official national data, in 2016 there were 79 new seropositive cases most of them homosexual men. It is noted that new cases have doubled compared to previous years.

In 2010 there were 41 new cases, in 2011 their number reached 54, in 2012 it was 58, in 2013 it was 54, in 2014 a total of 55 new cases were recorded, and in 2015 the number rose to 80.
