National Guard takes part at military exercise with Jordanian and US forces [VIDEO]

Cyprus’ National Guard participated in an international military exercise, dubbed “EAGER LION – 2022”, organised between September 3 and 16 by the armed forces of Jordan and the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

 

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Defence, several other countries also took part through Armed Forces personnel and assets, including Greece, Austria, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Iraq, Italy, Kazakhstan, Canada, Kenya, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Bahrain, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Sweden.

 

The purpose of the exercise, held at the KING ABDULLAH II Special Operations Center, in Jordan, was to realistically train in an environment with a multiple threats, enhance interoperability and the overall capacity to execute medium and large-scale multinational operations, it is added.

 

At the same time, according to the Ministry of Defence, the National Guard and the Jordanian Armed Forces co organised at the same time a small-scale bilateral exercise, called “SCORPIOS – 2022”, on Republic of Cyprus territory, with the participation of special operations teams from the Raider squadron and corresponding teams of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
