Motor vehicles sales jump 33.7% in the first five months of 2017

Registrations of motor vehicles for the first five months of 2017 reached 17,669 marking the highest figure in the last seven years, according to figures released today by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).

Motor vehicles sales jumped 33.7% compared with 13,295 in the corresponding period of 2016.

Vehicle sales in May amounted to 4.083 marking an increase of 29% compared with May 2016.

Saloon cars registration reached 14,633 from 11,188 marking an increase of 30.8%

Total commercial vehicles in the first five months of 2017 reached 1,782 from 1,583 in the respective period of 2016, marking an increase of 78%. Light vans reached rose by 73% to 1,491 in period of January � May 2017 from 861 the respective period of 2016.

Rental cars sales increased by 12.5% reaching 1,782 in the first five months of 2017 compared with 1.583 in the same period of 2016.

Scooters (with engines below 50 c.c) sales marked an increase of 10.4% reaching 95 in the five months of 2017 compared with 11.85%.

Motorcycles sales reached 1,010 in the period January to May 2017 from 903 in the same period of 2016 marking an annual increase of 11.85%.
