Minister promotes Cyprus as an education hub in China visit

Cypriot Minister of Education and Culture Costas Kadis has highlighted Cyprus comparative advantages as an ideal destination for studies during an official visit in China.

During his visit, Kadis represented Cyprus at the International High Level Conference on May 14 entitled Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation which aimed at developing ties between Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe through multifaceted synergies and investments in infrastructure, energy, transport, technology, commerce, tourism and culture, a ministry press release issued here today says.

Together with his Chinese counterpart Kadis took part in a panel discussion entitled Connecting People during which they presented the Mutual Recognition of Higher Education Degrees Agreement between the two countries signed on May 13, as their joint contribution to the vision of connecting people and peoples, it adds.

The agreement aims at enhancing ties between people by creating opportunities for mobility and the exchange of students, academics and researchers, Kadis said.

During his visit he visited Chinese universities and presented Cyprus strategy on becoming a tertiary education hub.

The Minister, the press release says, highlighted Cyprus comparative advantages as an ideal destination for studies, since foreign students can follow high level studies in Cyprus in a safe and friendly environment with high quality academics, excellent premises and at an affordable cost.

He also referred to Cyprus multicultural society, its pleasant Mediterranean climate and its rich historic and cultural heritage.

Kadis also pointed out that Cyprus is an EU member state and a recognised business hub, characteristics which are seriously taken into account by foreign students.
