Minister Emilianidou calls upon the EU for coordinated efforts to tackle long term unemployment

Minister of Labor, Welfare and Social Security, Zeta Emilianidou, called upon the EU for better linking of education sectors with labor market needs, while addressing the problem of long-term unemployment and the continuation efforts to tackle it, during her intervention at the Council Meeting of Employment and Social Policy of the EU yesterday in Luxembourg.

The Minister in her speech during the policy debate in the context of the New Skills Agenda for Europe, referred extensively to the simultaneous provision of practical training in companies for the accumulation work experience, and the role the subsidized employment programs and training and individualized approach can play in bringing down the numbers of the long term unemployed.
