Male patient with monkeypox discharged and continues isolation at home

A 46-year-old male who was diagnosed with monkeypox was discharged from the hospital Sunday and will continue his isolation at home, the Health Ministry has informed the press.

Earlier the press advisor of Health Minister, Constantinos Athanasiou told the Cyprus News Agency that the man will continue his isolation at home and this will be terminated only by his GP if all his scars have healed.

But Athanasiou said that people are advised to stay in contact with their GPs and be cautious.

Two more individuals with monkeypox are at Eden rehab center and another one is isolated at home.

Cyprus has already secured 1,260 doses of the vaccine and the pharmaceutical services are preparing new directives following a fresh advise for a modification in the way the vaccine is given.

Athanasiou said that 3 people already got the vaccine but contact is constant in an effort to maximize the vaccinations. Moreover, there is contact with health professionals who wish to get the vaccine.
