Knesset hosts the first trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Parliaments of Israel, Cyprus and Greece, in Israel

The Israeli Parliament (Knesset), on Thursday January 26, 2017 hosts the first trilateral meeting of the Presidents of Parliaments of Israel, Cyprus and Greece, following an initiative of the Speaker of Knesset, Mr Yuli-Yoel Edelstein.

Prior to the trilateral meeting, the President of the Cyprus House of Representative, Mr Demetris Syllouris, held a bilateral meeting with his Israeli counterpart, during which issues of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries were discussed. Expressing mutual satisfaction over the level of parliamentary relations that Cyprus and Israel enjoy, the two Presidents agreed to focus on more substantive and practical aspects of cooperation and to this end, the exchange of specialized visits between Parliamentary Friendship Groups and Parliamentary Committees was examined.

The expansion of the trilateral cooperation between Israel � Cyprus � Greece with the establishment of regional cooperation with countries of the broader region, for the benefit of the people of the region was, also, discussed.

Lastly, issues regarding the modus operandi of the two Parliaments and in particular, the exchange of best practices over the legislative work and parliamentary control were, also, examined.
