Justice Minister to participate in Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting

Justice and Public Order Minister, Ionas Nicolaou, will participate in the meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council that will take place in Brussels on March 7 and 8.

According to a press release issued by the PIO, in the framework of the Council, the Ministers are expected to exchange views on the further promotion of legislative tools related to the collection of electronic evidence from the law enforcement authorities, which aim, through safeguards, to the effective investigation of criminal offences committed on the internet.

Moreover the Ministers will also be invited to debate the state of play and way forward on the EU response to terrorism. The Council will also take stock of progress regarding negotiations with the Parliament on the whistle-blower protection directive. In addition, Justice Ministers will be updated on the most recent steps taken in the implementation of the EU prosecutor.

Nicolaou will return home on March 9.
