Job vacancies in Cyprus decline by 6.0% in Q4 2016

Job vacancies in Cyprus for the 4th quarter of 2016 reached 1,926, marking a decline of 6.0% year on year, the Cyprus Statistical Service said on Wednesday.

The number of job vacancies in the last quarter of 2015 amounted to 2,049, with the largest annual decrease in the Mining and Quarring Sector (-100,0%) and the largest increase in the Public Administration and Defence, Compulsory Social Security Sector (439,2%).

Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2016 the number of job vacancies decreased by 3,063 or 61,4%

The job vacancy rate for the 4th quarter of 2016 was 0,6%, while the job vacancy rate for the previous quarter was 1,5% and the 4th quarter of 2015 was 0,7%. The largest job vacancy rates for the 4th quarter of 2016 were presented in the Section of Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities (1,0%) and in Other Service Activities (1,0%). (Table 2)

The survey covers enterprises with 1 and more employees in all the Economic Activities of NACE Rev. 2, except Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, Activities of Households as Employers; Undifferentiated Goods- and Services-Producing Activities of Households for own use and Activities of Extraterritorial Organizations and Bodies.
