Inflation declines by 0.6% in December 2017

Cyprus Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December 2017 declined by 0.41 units to 99,03, compared to 99,44 units in the previous month, of 2017, according to the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).

On a monthly basis the biggest negative change was recorded in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages which declined by -2,5%.

On an annual basis (December 2016) the CPI declined by 0.6% while for the 12-month period of 2017, CPI accelerated by 0.5% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

In the twelve-month period from January 2016 to December 2016, the annual average rate of change of the CPI was -1,4%.

The largest change was recorded in Agricultural goods with a decrease of -9.2% and -5.5% when compared to the index of December 2016 and November 2017 respectively.
