Imports and exports drop in May

Total imports and exports in Cyprus record a decrease in May 2019 compared to May 2018.

In particular, on the basis of preliminary estimates of the Statistical Service of Cyprus for the foreign trade of Cyprus in May 2019, total imports were Euros 695,9 mn compared to Euros 839,9 mn in May 2018. Imports from other EU Member States in May 2019 were Euros 460,0 mn compared to Euros 530,6 mn in May 2018. Imports from Third Countries in May 2019 were Euros 235,8 mn compared to Euros 309,3 mn in May 2018.

Total exports in May 2019 were Euros 254,3 mn while they were Euros 461,1 mn in May 2018. Exports to other EU Member States in May 2019 were Euros 112,9 mn compared to Euros 108,8 mn in May 2018 and exports to Third Countries in May 2019 were Euros 141,4 mn compared to Euros 352,3 mn in May 2018.

Total imports in May 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of Euros 61,0 mn compared to Euros 189,7 mn in May 2018. Total exports in May 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of Euros 27,9 mn compared to Euros 177,5 mn in May 2018.
