A delegation of the Hungary -Cyprus Friendship Group in the Hungarian National Assembly held a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of the religious groups of Armenians, Latins and Maronites in the Cypriot Parliament.
According to PIO, the Hungarian delegation, which is paying Cyprus an official visit, was informed about issues concerning the religious groups in Cyprus, and the consequences of the Turkish invasion and occupation on the population of the religious groups.
The Hungarian MPs, comprising Chairman of the Friendship Group Laszlo Varga and members Zoltan Tessely and Laokratisz Koranisz, expressed their support and wished for the achievement of a just and viable solution of the Cyprus problem, based on the principles of international law. The Cypriot delegation was comprising Vartkes Mahdessian Representative of the Armenian group in the Cyprus House of Representatives, Antonella Mantovani from the Latin Group and on behalf of the Maronite representative Yiannaki Mousa, Chrystalla Tsoutsouki.
Laokratisz Koranisz, representative of the Greek minority in the Hungarian Assembly talked about the participation of national and religious minorities in the social and political life in Hungary, emphasizing on the Greek community.
Later on, the delegation attended a luncheon offered by Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Yiorgos Lillikas.
