House Speaker to attend conference of the EU House Speakers in Slovakia

House Speaker Dimitris Syllouris departs on Sunday for Slovakia to attend the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the member countries of the European Union, hosted by the National Council of Slovakia between 23-24 April.

The results of the the six-month Slovak Presidency of the Council of the Union and its interparliamentary dimension as well as the priorities of the current Maltese Presidency will be presented during the Conference, according to a press release issued on Friday by the Cyprus House.

Discussions will also be held on the future of the EU, the challenges it faces and the role of the national parliaments in order to promote the work done and make it accessible to the citizens.

The House Speakers will adopt the Conclusions of the Conference and will discuss the details on establishing a Joint Parliamentary Control Group on the activities of the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation.
