House Speaker Annita Demetriou met on Friday with Greek MP Maximos Charakopoulos, Secretary General of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy. Dr. Charakopoulos is in Cyprus to represent Greek Parliament President Constantinos Tasoulas in annual events organised by the occupied Municiplaity of Mophou.
Cyprus MPs Panikos Leonidou, head of the Cyprus delegation to the Assembly and Christos Orphanides were also present in the meeting.
Demetriou, a press release says, expressed her appreciation of the sound support by the Assembly as regards the solution to the Cyprus problem based on the UN resolutions and the international law. She also stressed the role of the Assembly in the international fora and for the benefit of Orthodox countries and their people.
