House prices rise by 1.6% on an annual basis in Q4 2018

House prices in Cyprus rose by an annual 1.6% in the last quarter of the previous year, the Statistical Service announced on Thursday.

According to a preliminary estimate of the Statistical Service, the House Price Index (HPI) in the fourth quarter of 2018 stood at 106,95 units.

Compared to the third quarter of 2018, the HPI increased by 3.5% while compared to the Index of the corresponding quarter of 2017, the Index increased by 1.6%, said Cystat.

FM discusses bilateral, regional issues and energy with Lebanese leadership

_: Bilateral relations between Cyprus and Lebanon, regional issues and energy matters were among the issues the Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, discussed on Thursday with the Lebanese leadership.

On the occasion of his visit to Beirut, to attend the first trilateral Ministerial Summit between Cyprus, Greece and Lebanon, Christodoulides had separate meetings with the country’s President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Saad Hariri and House Speaker Nabih Beeri.

He also extended an invitation, on behalf of the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, to Premier Hariri, to visit Cyprus the soonest possible.

Speaking after his meeting with Hariri, Christodoulides referred to the close relations between the two countries.

Apart from ways to enhance bilateral relations further, the Minister said that they also discussed about energy and how the two countries can work together and promote their common interests, for the benefit of their people.
