House President visits Jerusalem Patriarchate, in Israel

The President of the House of Representatives, Mr Demetris Syllouris, who is currently visiting Israel to participate in the 1st Meeting of the Presidents of the Parliaments of Israel, Cyprus and Greece, hosted by Knesset, on 26 January 2017, visited today the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, where he was received by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.

During the meeting, Patriarch Theophilos referred to the historic bonds that connect Cyprus with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, as well as to the role of the Patriarchate in the peaceful co-existence among religions and dogmas represented in the city. Then, Mr Syllouris briefed Patriarch Theophilos on the recent developments in the process for finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. Also, issues of wider regional and historic interest were discussed.

Then, the President of the House of Representatives visited the Church of the Resurrection and the Holy Sepulchre, as well other pilgrimage sites of Jerusalem.
