House President to participate in the 1st Trilateral Meeting of Cyprus-Greece-Israel Parliament Presidents

The President of the House of Representatives, Mr Demetris Syllouris, departs on Tuesday, 24 January 2017, for Israel, to participate in the 1st Meeting of the Presidents of Parliaments of Israel, Cyprus and Greece on 26 January 2017, following the initiative of the Speaker of the Israeli Parliament (Knesset), Mr Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. Mr Syllouris will be accompanied by the Secretary General of the House of Representatives, Mrs Vasiliki Anastasiadou, the Head of the International Relations Service, Mrs Evi Stavri-Hadjiyianni, and the International Relations Officer A’, Mrs Sophie Tsouris.

At the meeting, issues of parliamentary cooperation will be discussed in the fields of water resources, counter-fanaticism and intolerance, trade and education, while the relations of the three countries with the relevant diaspora communities will be examined. After the Trilateral Meeting, a Joint Statement will be adopted.

Mr Syllouris and Mr Edelstein will also have a bilateral meeting, and after the Trilateral Meeting, Mr Edelstein will host an official lunch in honour of his two counterparts.

Mr Syllouris will, finally, be received by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, at the Patriarchy of Jerusalem.

The President of the House of Representatives returns to Cyprus on Friday, 27 January 2017.
