House President to head delegation at Interparliamentary Union Assembly in Qatar

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris will be travelling to Doha, Qatar, heading a delegation to the 140th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, to be held from April 6 to 10.

The Conference will discuss the role of parliaments as platforms in strengthening education for peace, security and the rule of law.

During his stay in Doha, Syllouris is expected to meet with his counterparts from other countries, as well as President of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar Ahmad Bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud. He will also participate in the second Preparatory Meeting in view of the 5th World Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the Interparliamentary Union, to be held in 2020.

On April 8, Syllouris will depart for Vienna, to participate in the Conference of Presidents of Parliamentary of EU member states.

The delegation comprises MPs Skevi Koutra Koukouma, Marios Mavrides, Christos Orphanides and Anna Theologou.

Koukouma will also participate in a meeting of the Geopolitical Group 12+, to precede the Assembly.

Furthermore, the Association of General Secretaries of Parliaments will also be held, in which Deputy General Director of the House Socratis Socratous will take part.
