House President strongly condemns Turkish invasion against Syria

President of the House of Representatives, Demetris Syllouris, has strongly condemned Turkeys invasion against Syria.

“I strongly condemn Turkeys invasion of Syria, on the pretext of addressing the situation with the Kurds,” in the area, Syllouris said in a written statement.

He added that Turkey’s invasion is an aggressive act in the territory of another country, which reminds us of the invasion of our homeland in 1974, a crime, the consequences of which people still experience to this day.”

The Republic of Cyprus has been divided since Turkish troops invaded and occupied its northern areas in the summer of 1974. Since then, 37% of Cyprus territory remains under Turkish occupation.
