House President participates in online meeting of Women Presidents of Parliament of EU states on Ukraine

President of the House of Representatives Annita Demetriou participated on Wednesday in an online working meeting of Women Presidents of Parliaments of EU member states, upon an invitation of the President of the Polish Parliament, Elzbieta Witek.

A press release by the House of Representatives says that the meeting is the continuation of a previous meeting of the Women Presidents of Parliaments that took place in April in Warsaw where they visited the Polish-Ukrainian border.

During the meeting, they exchanged information as to the measures taken by each of the participating countries to provide support to Ukrainian refugees at various levels. They also exchanged views on the best ways to promote initiatives and actions that were jointly decided.

They underlined that Parliaments should be directly and actively involved in the common efforts to provide substantial aid and support to the people of Ukraine, in particular with regard to the psychological support, integration into the reception societies and continuation of the education of refugee children.
