House President meets the President and the Speaker of Greece

President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Demetris Syllouris, who is currently paying Greece a working visit, met Friday with the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, and subsequently with the President of the Hellenic Parliament Nikos Voutsis.

Greece and Cyprus wish for a solution to the Cyprus problem based on the European and international law, Pavlopoulos said welcoming Syllouris.

The presence of occupation troops and third-party guarantees are not acceptable for an EU member-state, he added and pointed out that the Cyprus problem is a national, European and an international problem.

Syllouris referred to the common national and European principles shared by Cyprus and Greece and noted that the two countries can play a positive role for the solution of regional problems on the basis of European principles.

During the meeting with President of the Hellenic Parliament, Syllouris said that Cyprus’ and Greece’s Parliaments are at the final stage regarding the publication of the Cyprus File. This publication will make the contents of the Cyprus File accessible to the scientists and to the public in both countries, noted Syllouris.

On his part, Nikos Voutsis said that he is very content that Greece and Cyprus are ready to continue this very important task of the publication of Cyprus File, thus fulfilling the commitment the two parliamentarians ha undertaken towards Greek and Cypriot people.
