The Cyprus issue, EU-Armenia relations and regional issues were discussed at a meeting House President Dimitris Syllouris had on Tuesday with the Armenian Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan, who pays Cyprus an official visit , at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart.
The Armenian Minister was accompanied by Minister of Defence Christoforos Fokaidis and high-ranking officials from both sides.
According to a press release issued by the Cyprus House Syllouris and Sargsyan praised the traditionally very close and friendly relations between the two countries, which are based on the historical and cultural ties between the two peoples. Both sides welcomed the strengthening of cooperation between Cyprus and Armenia in the defence sector.
The Armenian Defence Minister briefed the House President on Armenias relations with the European Union and expressed his countrys appreciation for Cyprus support for these relations, as well as for other international issues of high importance to his country.
Syllouris briefed Sargsyan on the current phase of the Cyprus problem, expressing his concerns about the increasing presence of Turkish settlers in the occupied Cyprus. He particularly highlighted the dangers for the demographics of the island. They also discussed the current regional developments.
