House President and Portuguese Ambassador discuss Cyprus issue

President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris and Ambassador of Portugal to Cyprus Manuela Bairos exchanged views on Thursday regarding developments in the Cyprus issue and prospects for a solution.

According to a press release, they also discussed the situation in the broader region, especially the migration problem.

Syllouris and Bairos furthermore reaffirmed the friendly ties between Cyprus and Portugal, and referred to ways to further upgrade bilateral relations, especially on a parliamentary level.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
