House President and his Monegasque counterpart discuss Cyprus issue, bilateral ties, small states’ challenges

Cyprus issue, bilateral ties and challenges the small states are faced with were on the agenda of a meeting the House President Dimitris Syllouris had on Saturday with the President of the National Council of Monaco Stephane Valeri. Syllouris pays Monaco a visit following at invitation by Valeri. On Friday he met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Finance and Economy.

The meeting with Valerie took place in the presence of the National Council chairmen of the Foreign Affairs and Monitoring Committees for the negotiations with the EU.

A press release by the Cyprus House says that Syllouris briefed his interlocutors on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, pointing out that Turkeys stance on the presence of troops and the guarantors role on the island cannot be accepted. During the meeting they also exchanged views on the role of the two Parliaments and their cooperation and the Monaco-EU Association Agreement which is under negotiation.

Syllouris and Valeri also discussed issues related to the Conference of Presidents of the Parliaments of the Small States of Europe, which will be hosted by the House of Representatives in November.
