House Foreign Affairs Committee invites Greek Foreign Minister to discuss national issues

The President of the House Committee on Foreign and European Affairs and Citizens’ Alliance President, Yiorgos Lillikas, briefed on Friday the Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Ilias Fotopoulos, on the invitation extended to Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Kotzias, to attend a Committee session and brief its members on Greece’s policy regarding national issues.

Speaking after a meeting, in Nicosia, Lillikas said that the Committee will host the Greek Minister in Cyprus at the earliest opportunity, and called, if need be, for an extraordinary session to facilitate such a meeting. He also said that the members of the House Committee plan to pay a visit to the Hellenic Parliament.

Greece and the Republic of Cyprus frequently exchange views, not just on the Cyprus problem, but also on other issues that concern them, the Ambassador said, assuring that they will continue to do so.

During a constructive meeting they also discussed the prospects of a Cyprus settlement and the steps that need to be taken, Ambassador Fotopoulos added.

Other issues the two men talked about included developments in the Middle East and regional issues, with Lillikas expressing support for the return of two Greek soldiers, currently detained in Turkey.
