House delegation to attend Interparliamentary Conference for CFSP and CSDP in Estonia

A House delegation departs on Wednesday for Tallinn, Estonia, to attend the 11th Interparliamentary Conference for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) hosted on September 7-9 by the parliament of Estonia, in the framework of the current EU Estonian Presidency.

According to a House press release the delegation comprises MPs Aristos Damianou, George Papadopoulos, George Karoullas and Zacharias Koulias.

During the Conference an exchange of views with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Federica Mogherini will take place. Participants will also discuss the position and the role of Europe in the global context. Keynote speakers will be Kersti Kaljulaid, President of the Republic of Estonia, and Alexander Stubb, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank, and former Prime Minister of Finland.

Other issues to be discussed are transatlantic relations, the current situation at the EU borders, ways to strengthen European defence and the practical aspects of the hybrid world including the cyber sphere and strategic communication.

A meeting of parliamentary delegations of EU Mediterranean countries will also take place, on the sidelines of the Conference, to discuss current challenges mainly concerning states of the region.
