Health Ministry announces eight COVID-19 cases on Monday

Eight COVID-19 cases were announced on Monday by the Health Ministry. The new cases were detected out of 1,960 tests.

 

The total cases in Cyprus Republic so far are 1,534.

 

According to the Health Ministry, four patients are being treated at the Famagusta Reference Hospital, one at the Advanced Care Unit. One person was discharged. One patient is hospitalized at the ICU of Nicosia General Hospital. This patient is not intubated.

 

Two of the cases that were announced today were detected among tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals. Both patients displayed symptoms.

 

Five cases were detected in contact tracing process and are contacts of the case announced on September 9. Another two contacts from her family circle were found positive September 11. Today`s cases are also from her family and according to the Ministry, this is a new cluster of a total of nine people.

 

One person tested positive on a private initiative because of symptoms.

 

Analytically, today`s cases were detected as follows:

 

Five cases were found via contact tracing of a total of 28 tests, one case on private initiative of a total of 455 tests, two cases from 118 tests done at the Microbiological Labs of General Hospitals.

 

Zero cases were detected out of a total of 916 tests at airports, out of 6 tests done for enclaved persons , out of 188 tests done in the framework of 5,000 tests for persons aged 18-40 in crowded places, out of two tests done at colleges/universities, out of 72 tests at the crossing points and out of 175 tests done after GP referrals.
