Heads of Cyprus’ diplomatic missions meet in Nicosia this week to coordinate efforts

The Annual Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides with the heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus will be held in Nicosia on 27 and 28 July to brief Cypriot diplomats on recent developments, exchange views and better co-ordinate the exercise of the Republics foreign policy.

According to a press release issued by the PIO, the chiefs of diplomatic missions will be received by the President of the Republic and meet the President and Members of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs of the House of Representatives and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At this years meeting, particular emphasis will be given to the European dimension of the countrys foreign policy, in the light of regional and international developments.

In the context of the ongoing effort by the Foreign Ministry to adapt to the needs and trends of modern diplomacy, for the first time this year, a training seminar will be organized in two priority areas of the Ministry, namely economic and public diplomacy.

The training workshop is organized in collaboration with the Dutch Institute for International Relations Clingendael and the participation of other stakeholders such as the Cyprus Investment Promotion Organization, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Employers and Industrialists, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism and the Press and Information Office, and aims at expanding the skills of diplomats in these issues, as well as improving coordination of the missions with other bodies to achieve the best results possible.
