Minister of Tourism, Avedis Guidanian, on Tuesday met with Cypriot Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, with whom he discussed the economic bilateral ties between the two countries.

“We discussed with Minister Guidanian the means to develop the tourism sector between both countries, especially the possibility of setting a joint tourism package in order to promote tourism in the two countries,” Minister Lakkotrypis told reporters following the meeting.

“We also tackled the movement of investment and we have invited Lebanese investors to invest in Cyprus,” he added.

For his part, Guidanian explained that this meeting came as part of the official Cypriot presidential visit.

He said that bilateral meetings would be held in collaboration with the companies that Cyprus deals with in a number of countries like Russia and England, in an attempt to bolster tourism.

“We are in need of tourists who enjoy high purchase power; Moscow is one of those [capitals],” he said.

“We have met with a group of investors who are willing to establish a maritime line for tourists between Lebanon and Cyprus,” he concluded.
