Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties call leaders to pave the way for resumption of negotiations

Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties have welcomed UN Secretary General Jane Holl Lutes visit to Cyprus and called “upon the two leaders to take opportunity of this meeting to pave the way for the resumption of the negotiation process with the aim of reaching federal solution.”

A Joint Communique issued after the leaders and the representatives of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot political parties regular meeting at Ledra Palace, on Wednesday, said that they expressed opinions on the issue proposed by the hosting party, Epalxi, that was “Viable Federation.

As it is noted participants welcomed the decision of the two leaders in their recent meeting to set a specific date for the opening of Deryneia and Lefka crossing points. “They hope that soon there will be positive news for the resolution of the problem of mobile connectivity throughout Cyprus,” it added.

The next regular meeting of the leaders and the representatives of the political parties will be held on 28 November 2018 at Ledra Palace.
