Greece will contribute to the UN Secretary-General’s efforts for Cyprus Solution, Greek FM says

Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias, expressed to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, Greece’s willingness to contribute in every possible way to the latter’s efforts for a solution to the Cyprus Problem, during their meeting in Geneva, on Monday.

Greek Foreign Minister also discussed with the UN Secretary-General about the Turkey-Libya memorandum of understanding, reiterating Greece’s position that this agreement has no legal effect, as it was signed by a government with no legal authorization as regards the state existence and the international representation of Libya, in the current moment.

Moreover, Dendias underlined that Turkey’s positions, as reflected in this agreement, violate the Law of the Sea and create dangers for the region. During his statements after the meeting, Greek Foreign Minister said that the UN Secretary-General informed him that he will refer the matter to the UN legal services, in order to have their opinion.
