German MPs will pay an official visit to Cyprus

? delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for relations with Cyprus and Malta of the German Bundestag will pay an official visit to Cyprus, between 30 May and 2 June, 2023. The visit takes place at the invitation of the Cyprus House of Representatives, an offical announcement says.

According to the press release, the delegation is led by the Chair of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Derya Trk-Nachbaur and includes the Deputy Chairmen of the Group, Florian Oßner, Lars Friedrich Lindemann, Dietmar Friedhoff and Member Filiz Polat.

It is noted that during their stay in Cyprus, the German MPs will be received by the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou and will have a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos.

It is added that they will also have separate meetings in the House of Representatives with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs and Chairman of the Cyprus-Germany Friendship Group, Harris Georgiades and members of the Committee and with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defence, Marinos Sizopoulos and members of the Committee.

It is also noted that a working lunch and working dinner will be hosted respectively by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism, Kyriakos Hatzigiannis and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women, Irene Charalambides, in the presence of Members of both Committees.

It is also noted that as part of the visit, the Bundestag delegation will have a meeting with the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus at the Commission’s Anthropological Laboratory.

Finally, it is noted that they will visit the Cultural Centre of Famagusta Municipality in Deryneia, where they will have a meeting with the Deputy Mayor, Chrysanthos Zannetos and members of the Famagusta Municipal Council.
