General government surplus widens in Q1

The general governments surplus widened to Euros 200.9 million in the first quarter of this year, as compared to a surplus of Euros 146,3 mn in the corresponding period of the previous year, according to preliminary data released on Monday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2016, the surplus increased by 37.3%, mainly due to revenue increase. In the last quarter of 2016, the general government balance showed a surplus of Euros 64.4 million.
