General Affairs Council to exchange views on rule of law in Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, Latvia and Lithuania

The EU’s ministers responsible for European affairs will hold their third round of country-specific discussions, based on the European Commission’s annual rule of law report, during Tuesday’s meeting of the General Affairs Council (GAC) in Brussels.

According to the meeting’s agenda, the focus will be on Cyprus, Croatia, Italy, Latvia and Lithuania, continuing the discussions that already took place focusing on ten other member states, in April and November 2021.

EU sources that briefed journalists said that the discussion will focus on exchanging information and best practices since the findings of the 2021 report on these five countries were generally positive.
