French Senate Committee Chairman to hold meetings in Cyprus

Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed forces of the French Senate Christian Cambon will have a series of meetings to Cyprus, where he will pay a three-day visit, at the invitation of the House Defence Committee Chairman Marinos Sizopoulos and the House Foreign and European Affairs Committee Chairman George Lillikas.

Christian Cambon, who arrives to Cyprus on Thursday evening, will be received by Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and will have a meeting with House President Demetris Syllouris.

Moreover, according to a House press release he will have separate meetings with Sizopoloulos, Lillikas, Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, Defence Minister Savvas Angelides and Famagusta Mayor and former House President Alexis Galanos.

Cambon will also have a meeting with the UNSGs Special Representative to Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar. Moreover, he will visit the French Institute of Cyprus and Famagusta Cultural Centre, from where he will view the fenced-off city of Famagusta.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkish troops invaded and occupied 37% of its territory.
