Foreign Ministry launches campaign to help Kenya Archbishopric’s philanthropic work

The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Cyprus began today a humanitarian campaign to collect neccessities to contribute to the philanthropic work of the Archbishopric in Kenya which runs an orphanage, schools and medical centers in the African country.

The campaign, that will continue until the end of November, is organised in cooperation with the Honorary Consul of Kenya in Cyprus Nikos Tornaritis and Commissioner for Volunteerism and Non-Governmental Organizations Yannis Yiannaki.

The collection of items (including new or slightly used clothing and footwear, school supplies and dry food) will take place in a specially designed area at the Foreign Ministrys parking lot, daily, between 0900-1400.

Announcing the launch of the campaign, Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides said that November is devoted to “gathering the help needed by the Archbishopric in Kenya to support a project which is multid imensional and brings real results. “

Nikos Tornaritis, Honorary Consul of Kenya, welcomed the decision of the Foreign Ministry to organise the donation campaign, while the Commissioner for Volunteerism said that the humanitarian support offered to Kenya has led to the establishment of schools, medical centers and orphanages.
