Foreign Ministry condemns attack in St. Petersburg, conveys condolences

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus condemned on Tuesday the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg metro and conveyed Cyprus sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Russia.

“The Republic of Cyprus condemns the terrorist attack which took place on 3 April 2017 in the St. Petersburg metro and claimed the lives of fourteen people and injured many others,” a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry says.

It adds that “our sincere condolences and sympathy go to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Russia.”

Cyprus, the press release notes, “condemns in the strongest possible terms such heinous acts of terror and raw brutality and calls on all concerned to combine and intensify their efforts to combat the scourge of terrorism.”

“At this time of sorrow and grief, Cyprus stands in solidarity with Russia,” it concludes.
