Foreign Ministry advises Cypriot citizens regarding Qatar situation

In a statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gives advice to Cypriot nationals on the situation in Qatar as well as contact details for consular assistance.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation developing, due to the fact that Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and the Maldives have suspended diplomatic ties with Qatar, on June 4th 2017,” the statement says.

On June 5th, 2017, it adds, “Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain announced further restrictions on travel and residence affecting Qatari nationals.”

It further clarifies that “these restrictions do not apply to Cypriot nationals.”

“It is expected that there will be severe disruption of movement and partial or full closure of air, naval and border crossings from these countries into and from Qatar,” the statement continues.

The Ministry advises Cypriot nationals “to directly contact airlines or tour operators for further information.”
